Berry Bros & Rudd is England's oldest independent bottler, having been around since 1698. The company has become known for the quality wines and Single Cask whisky's they select.
This special whisky comes from the Benriach Distillery. The distillery has had several owners including the famous Billy Walker, but this whisky was distilled before he owned the Benriach distillery. Located in Speyside and with two wash stills and two spirit stills, this distillery is perfectly capable of making the most beautiful whiskey and this Benriach 1991 is proof of this.
The whisky is bottled under the Exceptional Cask series from Berry Bros & Rudd, this selection is made by none other than Ronnie Cox and Doug McIvor, both Master Keepers of The Quaich. This Single Cask whisky was in barrel from 1991 to 2023. Only 254 bottles were bottled at a cask strength of 48.3% alcohol.
On the nose aromas of banana bread, leather, wax and fresh fruit. Followed by flavors of dried apricot, banana and cardamom on the pallet. The finish is velvety soft and has flavors of herbs, wood and fresh fruit.
Neat.
